Newton High School Chemistry Tutoring Student Finds College Success

Hear how tutoring for a Newton South High School honors chemistry student helped prepare him for success at the University of Maryland.

Biology tutoring, high school math tutoring and even SAT Prep, Corey went on to realize that tutoring does more than just rescue a student in need. Tutoring can support the entire learning process and make you a stronger overall student.

Now, Corey is a successful student at the University of Maryland.

Congratulations Corey!

Transcript: My name is Corey Friedman. I am a student at the University of Maryland. I started using Quantum Prep sophomore year of high school when I was taking Honors Chemistry. I found lots of the concepts to be challenging. I thought that the teaching wasn’t as helpful in class as it could have been.

What were your expectations for Quantum Prep?

Corey Friedman: I was hoping I would get a better understanding of the course and maybe enjoy it, actually, because I have always liked science. But sometimes depending on my teacher it just got me. I wanted to learn better study habits, better ways to practice, all the materials I was learning and actually relearn it in a way that was easier for my understanding. Because in the Chemistry course, it was all just writing on the board really quickly, going through things like (snaps three times) that that that but I am more of a hand’s on kind of a guy.

What was your experience like with your Quantum Prep teacher?

Corey Friedman: I've never met someone who knows so much about anything, like if i needed help in any subject he was there for me. His availability was huge, always available, always made time for me.

Did working with Quantum Prep improve your grades?

Corey Friedman: My first term sophomore year Chemistry, I had a C and I had never gotten a C before in high school. And by the end of the year, I got my Chemistry grade up to a B+. I stuck with Quantum Prep throughout high school, I got help in my Biology class, my math class, on my SATs, and in my Neurobiology class. I think my experience at Quantum Prep prepared me well for college, for all the college work.

Would you recommend Quantum Prep?

Corey Friedman: I would highly recommend Quantum Prep. I would say it helped me so much, really made me into the person I am today, especially academically. And you benefit from it greatly in any subject because they have experience in any single subject you can imagine. You cannot ask for better help. You’re in the right hands with Quantum Prep. You aren't just learning facts, you aren't just learning school things, normal things you learn in school, learning how to become a better person how to become a better student and how to succeed in life.
